RED CLAY
Santa María Atzompa
The women of Santa María Atzompa, who are not only magnificent artisans but are a reference in their way of working and lifestyle. And in craftsmanship, the daily life of an artisan is reflected in each of his pieces. Entering her workshop is to feel that you are entering a home and that the women of the clay live there, women who are family, aunts, nieces, daughters, mothers and sisters-in-law. Together they organize to prepare their mixture, make and form each of the pieces without molds or lathes and give a particular design to each piece they make.
Their pieces have a fun minimalism, they are simple pieces with an elegant touch. They do not have decoration or paint, the red slip and the burnished is the only thing that the artisans use to make these pieces that are a spectacle.
