BOXES OF OLINALÁ

Olinalá, Guerrero.

In Olinalá, Guerrero one of the most delicate crafts in Mexico is made. The Olinalá Boxes or boxes have traveled the world putting Mexico in the spotlight.

Linaloe wood is a white wood with a very particular smell, an exquisite smell. These boxes are made collaboratively and the entire process cannot be carried out by just one artisan. There is the craftsman who is dedicated to assembling the box, then it passes to other hands who are dedicated to lacquering the box and it is the third hands that carry out the decoration.

There are two techniques for decorating, decorating with flowers which is hand painted and the scratching technique. The colors and tones are made with natural and vegetable dyes.

The measurements and tones can be selected and the boxes are perfect for decorating spaces and storing what is necessary.

Jewelry boxes, trays, kleeneras and jewelry boxes are some uses that have been given to this wonderful technique.
